Will.i.am and Fergie took the stage for a rousing halftime performance at the Super Bowl Sunday.

While Christina Aguilera flubbed her lines by mistake, Super Bowl performers the Black Eyed Peas fudged the lyrics to one of their halftime songs on purpose.

The quartet descended from the top of the football stadium on individual platforms and sang a medley of "I Gotta Feeling," "Boom Boom Pow," "Pump It," "Get It Started," "Time of My Life" and a new version of "Where Is the Love?" featuring a message to President Obama.

Singing against a backdrop of glow-in-the-dark words that spelled out "love," will.i.am changed the words to the hit song in order to include a plea for Bam's help to improve the nation.

"In America we need to get things straight/Obama let's get these kids educated/Create jobs so the country stays stimulated/This is dedicated to all the innovators," he sang.

The Peas' performance lit up the field in the middle of the game, with Fergie appearing nervous as she descended onto the stage on her tiny platform. Her boyfriend, Josh Duhamel, revealed on Saturday at DirecTV's Celebrity Beach Bowl that she was nervous about the stunt.

"I know in the beginning there's something she's kind of nervous about," he said.

Fergie's stilettos shifted around as she descended and her mike did take a moment to kick in at the start of their set, but then it was a smooth ride from there, with each song given Olympic-style choreography involving swathes of dancers in neon suits forming arrows and hearts.

Taboo's suit was the most intricate, lighting up across his chest and his legs, but Fergie helped light up the stage as well with illuminated sparkly football shoulder pads.

Halfway through the Peas' performance, Slash emerged from the bottom of the stage to play a solo of Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine," with Fergie singing the lyrics.

This was followed by a white-clad Usher descending from the top of the stadium on a chain to perform a highly choreographed duet of "OMG," which featured will.i.am.

"so watch ya'll think of that!!!??? " Usher tweeted after his segment.

The Black Eyed Peas concluded the show with a performance of "Time of My Life."

Prior to taking the stage, will.i.am revealed he would be updating Twitter throughout the performance.

"I played 1mil people in brazil, the world cup for 1bil," he tweeted, "And I'm so nervous for the superbowl. 'I feel like crying' this is so special for us."

Though he only ended up tweeting a few times during the show, band mate apl.de.ap was all too happy to fill in the pauses.

"My haircut for the superbowl halftime show!yep yep," he tweeted at one point with a photo of the back of his head, which bared the words BEP XLV shaved into his head.
