Why is the ocean salty? 'Jersey Shore's' Snooki says it's 'whale sperm'

When Snooki tells America to do something, it's obvious that we do it.

On Thursday's (Feb. 3) episode of "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was hanging with this week's gorilla guido when she explained to him that ocean water is salty, because, wait for it, whale sperm. Boom!

She then said, "Everyone, google it." And guess what? America descended on their computers and made it the No. 1 google trend. And the PTC is worried about MTV's "Skins" and what it's doing to the youth of America?

Well, sorry, Snooks, but you're wrong. According to the U.S.G.S., the salt in our oceans are the result of run-off from rocks on land. Rain is slightly acidic and wears away the surfaces of rocks into tiny salty ions, which are then carried to the ocean by rivers and streams.

But, to give Snooks some credit. We're sure whale sperm must be responsible for some of the saltiness in water. But, we're not scientists or anything.
